This is a rather unusual day. We have a Principal Sponsor who at this time wishes to remain anonymous but wants to establish his place in the 3D Masters Privileges Queue. All will be revealed in due course.
Ticket Sales are going very well, it's good to see so many from the UK making the trip, and Entries continue to flood in. It's going to be yet another memorable competition!

We wish you a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Thanks to our friends in Switzerland for their hospitality, it was a blast!

We have now updated the tickets page so that you can buy tickets for 3D Masters 2012. As in the past, we will send a voucher which can be exchanged for your wristbands. In 2012 the Gate Crew will be stationed at the entrance to the 3D Masters field, so please have your vouchers ready when you arrive in your car.

We have had a lot of requests for tickets for the 2012 event. These will be available to buy using PayPal or Worldpay early in January. As in the past, we will send a voucher which can be exchanged for your wristbands. In 2012 the Gate Crew will be stationed at the entrance to the 3D Masters field, so have your vouchers ready.

New Manoeuvres for 3D Masters 2012:

The two new k=2 Set Manoeuvres for 2012 are the Piro Pogo and the Figure 8 Pie Dish, to replace the Woggle and the Cracking Chaos. The new k=3 Manoeuvres are the Tic-toc Auto and the Time Machine to replace Clocktower and Death Spinner..
The Piro Pogo and Figure 8 Pie Dish are self-evident and are fully described in the 2012 Entry Form, but it is worth spending a little time with the two new k=3 manoeuvres.
The Tic-toc Auto requires a piro flip in one direction, and then a piro flip in the opposite direction. This must be followed by 2 aileron tic-tocs and a half roll to inverted followed by a low half piro flip to landing on the designated spot.
The Time Machine is a clockwise skids-out Big Ben followed by an anticlockwise skids-in Big Ben, all flown LOW.

Saturday 12 Nov 2011:

3D Masters 2012 will be held in Venlo, the Netherlands on the 13th, 14th and 15th July. After pioneering the use of the Trafficport site in 2011, 3D Masters will be using the same location again. This microlight flying field has an 880 metre runway orientated exactly East-West, meaning that competition pilots face North, avoiding sun-glare. Trafficport is situated adjacent to the E67 roadway, providing easy and convenient communications from all over Europe, sits plumb on the Dutch/German border and is within easy reach distance for International Airports in Amsterdam, Cologne, Dusseldorf, and Paris. Accommodation too is available at all levels, with campsites, bungalow parks, bed-and breakfast and hotels all readily available within the town and easy reach of the flying field.

The hosts will be the Jupiter Flying Club, the same club who hosted the very successful 2010 and 2011 3D Masters events. Walter Robijns, Chairman of the Jupiter Club said “The entire Jupiter Club has found the hosting of 3D Masters a very exciting and entertaining experience. While it was hard work all round, we are delighted to be hosts to the biggest 3D Competition and the most talented 3D stars in the World. The atmosphere at 3D Masters is electric, and there has been unanimous support for hosting the event again in 2012.”

A spokesperson for 3D Masters commented “We were impressed by the commitment and resolve of members of the Jupiter Club. It is no easy task for a relatively small club to host a major world event, and we feel that Jupiter not only met our expectations but exceeded them in many ways. Feedback from 3D Fans, Competitors and Sponsors has been very positive, and so we feel very comfortable with entrusting the 2012 3D Masters to the Jupiter Club”

3D Masters 2012 will retain the format of previous years with the 3 disciplines of Set Manoeuvres, Freestyle and Flight to Music ensuring that the winners in the Experts and Masters categories will have truly earned their accolades. The extremely successful Synchro Competition pioneered in 2009 will be repeated, with entry for 2012 open to a larger number of participants, and of course the Demonstration, Evening and Night Flying will again help to create the fantastic atmosphere for which the event has become internationally renowned.

Now we are back in the UK after a fantasic 3D Masters 2011. It was great to see so many people having so much fun, and thanks to all of you who have written with comments, it is really appreciated and I will pass on your comments to everyone concerned.

The event ran really well and it was very reassuring to be so well supported by such a professional group of people. We all enjoyed serving such a great bunch of Fans, you were enthusiastic, cheerful and LOUD

We must also thank our Sponsors for their support and particularly for thier flexibility under difficult circumstances. The Demonstration Pilots really put on a good show and their co-operation and timing helped us to make the event totally continuous with very few breaks.

Our Competitors of course were outstanding, and gave us the most breathtaking competition ever. It was a shame that the weather meant that we did not complete the Finals, but there were plenty of flights to determine the outcome. Again, the pilots were flexible and timely in their appearances, which helped us enormously to deliver 3D Masters 2011.

Congratulations to our Winners, Commiserations to everyone else, it was a great event.

We are still offloading so we will post some pictures in a few days. In the meantime, Tony is processing the videos, which again this year have been sponsored by Thunder Tiger.
