Snippets - We want to keep you up to Date - Stuff as it happens:

(If you want to send us your own news and plans we will be pleased to hear from you here)

Wednesday 28 July 2010:

OK, we are back from Venlo now and things are beginning to settle, so this seems a good opportunity to provide my own view of the event.
Flying
The event began on Friday Lunchtime after registrations in the morning with the Experts Set Manoeuvres followed by the Masters Set Manoeuvres. A small shower of rain delayed completion of the Masters round, but it concluded in time for Demonstration Flights during the evening and then Night Flying practice.
Saturday was a perfect day weather-wise and began with Experts Music, followed by Masters Freestyle and then Experts Freestyle. The first Synchro Competition took place during lunchtime - this competition was pioneered by 3D Masters in 2009 and has grown to become a massive attraction at the event. The prize goes to the Team making the best score of the weekend. Saturday was rounded-off with the Night Competition, won by Petr Novotny with a special prize for 10 years old Alon Barak for staying up late to entertain us all.
Sunday began with Masters Music and this was then followed by the Finals Rounds, Set Manoeuvres and Freestyle with the Music scores being carried forward from the preliminary rounds. The second half of the Synchro Competition was again well-received. The Masters Freestyle Round was interrupted briefly by rain, but completed to everyone's satisfaction. The rain then held off through the afternoon Demonstrations but then the heavens opened for the Awards Ceremony, easing again for the Victory Flights. The winners and positions for every round are to be found in the attached spreadsheet.
General Comments
Flying
The standards of flying at 3D Masters was in most cases excellent, and we succeeded again in providing over 36 hours of seamless extreme 3D for the entire weekend. There were a few Safety Issues, but I am proud to say that 3D Masters has maintained its unblemished safety record. The 'Yellow Card' Syetem worked extremely well.
Venue
With almost the whole club turning out to provide infrastructure support, the Jupiter Club aimed to prove Chairman Walter Robijns' promise "the Best 3D Masters Ever" and they certainly delivered. Catering was often commented upon as efficient and priced reasonably, and the ElyBBQ on Saturday evening was particularly enjoyable
Help
Our sincere thanks to all members of the Jupiter Club, Commentators Colin Lucas, Roel Woering, the Smith Brothers, Roger Hamilton and to Roel Verberkt for the Sound. Jan Robijns, Procyon Networks and Kembit provided IT and Network Support.Tony and Terry are working on the 3DX video, Nigel Revill once again provided scoring support and John Vugts ran a superbly controlled Airside. John de Quincey ran the 3D Masters Shop. Our Judges for 3D Masters were Jeremy Morcom, Kevin Targett, Nigel Fraser-Ker, Chris Walton and Mr Curtis Youngblood.
Love and Infinite thanks to Ben and Judy.
Weather
We were again very lucky with the weather, showers caused only minor delays rather than cancellations.
Attendance
Was up on any previous year, we estimate around 2000 people were on the field on Saturday. As always, those who bought tickets in advance benefitted from lower prices, but after 14:00 on Sunday we reduced the price of tickets in order to encourage locals to watch from behind the Safety Net rather than from the surrounding countryside. They had seen the nationwide TV coverage on Saturday and wanted to take a look at 3D.

We have to thank our Spectators for their excellent behaviour during the event, their enormous enthusiasm, and of course for joining in with Colin's Mexican waves. You all seemed to be enjoying yourselves massively, and I thank you for kindness and courtesy.
2010 marks the 10th Anniversary of 3D Masters, having evolved from a small event on a Rugby Field in Northamptonshire to a huge international event attended by pilots from 24 countries and spectators from many more.
We could not have done this without the support of many people over those 10 years, and we take this opportunity to extend our thanks for helping us on this journey.
You know who you are, THANKS
Sponsors
3D Masters only exists due to the support of our Sponsors. We remain grateful to them all for their recognition of 3D Masters as the supreme manifestation of 3D on Planet Earth.

Monday 26 July 2010:

Wow, just this minute back from Venlo after a fantastic weekend of wall-to-wall 3D. If you were not there you missed out on the most incredible 3D Masters ever. Sincere thanks to everyone concerned, and thanks too for the messages - they are much appreciated.

Will post the scores shortly - we had to clear the field, then I took some of our helpers to Weeze. then back for a nights sleep before a wind-up meeting and then the drive home. Fantastic experience.

Saturday 17 July 2010:

The rush continues to have those guaranteed tickets. It has been totally hectic here with all the correspondence and mad-rush last-minute must-have-now stuff, but that's not unusual. Really looking forward now to the journey to Venlo and making the site ready for 3D Masters 2010. Early thanks to all at Jupiter who resolved to make 3D Masters 2010 THE BEST EVER, and it looks like they may well acheive it. Certainly attendance will be well up on past years and it looks like the Catering is going to be fantastic, during the day and with the ElyBBQ on Saturday Evening. Add to that the World's most talented Pilots, Fantastic Sponsors, Humungous Trade Stands and a mad, mad crowd and it's all set for a memorable weekend.

Just can't wait. See you there

Friday 16 July 2010:

Wow, a sudden last minute rush for tickets is keeping us very busy. We now have over 50% more pre-sold tickets than ever before. We are up to date with acknowledgements, so if you do not have your pdf voucher then please contact us immediately. We hope you enjoy 3D Masters.

Tuesday 6 July 2010:

Only vaguely related to 3D Masters, but an interesting day yesterday.I went along to take pictures while John de Quincey, who will be manning the 3D Masters Club Tent, and Roger Kimbell had a go in an Autogyro. Roger andf John are both current Fixed Wing Pilots and decided that they had both lived far too long:

John absorbed the whole thing, and here's his explananation how it all works;

He'll be happy to explain it all to you in Venlo - visit him in the 3D Masters Club Tent, where he'll be selling T Shirts, Caps and other 3D Masters stuff.

Great Day Guys!

Friday 2 July 2010:

Markus from Freakware has just informed us that the BeAStX Team of 3 pilots will contest the Synchro Competition - so that makes 2 teams who will fly a 3-ship contest. Exciting!

Welcome to Mr Diaz, visiting us from Bogota in Colombia, and by some co-incidence Mr Kokes from the Czech Republic, both booked tickets within minutes of each other. Hmmm - we hope you enjoy 3D Masters 2010 in Venlo.

Wednesday 30June 2010:

Now I am not sure why, but we have had a sudden influx of ticket purchases from Finland, so Welcome to all the Finns.
I wonder if they are like the Norwegians - when they used to come they would email the local Pub and say "Get Beef and Strong Liquor, the Norwegians are coming"
Bring flags guys.

Good news from Jupiter - they have managed to find extra parking space
The massive uptake of tickets this year means that we are beginning to worry that we are running out of room - Gulp

Pilots Guide sent to all 3D Masters 2010 pilots - only 3 weeks to go

Tuesday 29 June 2010:

Mikado have now entered their Team for the Synchro Competition, so that makes a neat 7 Teams for this year, and a good entry level too for the Night Competition.

Monday 28 June 2010:

Congratulations for Jupiter on their successful Meet at the weekend, a chance to check out the 3D Masters winners rostrum. Walter, Jupiter Club Chairman, came 3rd in the 3D Contest, behind Bas de Groot (1) and Frederik Hanisch (2)

Frederik has now been offred a place in the Mikado Team at 3D Masters. .

That's Holy Ground you guys are treading on!
There are quite a few other pilots who want to be where you are standing.

Tuesday 22 June 2010:

A record-breaking year
After a slightly shaky 2009 in Spain due among other things to the Global Recession, 3D Masters has risen to new dizzy heights as the pre-eminent world 3D Competition:

  • · Competition Pilots will be coming from 23 countries around the World, Demonstration Pilots from 14 countries - a truly International event.
  • · 3D Masters has more International and World Sponsors than ever before - companies throughout the World who are household names are making their presence felt with big investments into 3D Masters in terms of resources and pilots.
  • · There will be more Trade-booths than ever before. Companies ranging from small local Distributors, through International Shops to World Manufacturers to will be there to talk to visitors, sell, talk business and generally help to boost the prowess of this massive International Event.
  • · Venlo in the Netherlands has proven to be a very popular destination for 3D Enthusiasts. Ticket pre-sales for 3D Masters 2010 in Venlo have now exceeded pre-sales for any previous year. At the time of writing pre-sales are well up on any past year, and with 5 weeks to run that can only mean a massive level of 3D Enthusiast support for this, the 10th 3D Masters.
  • · There is more to do and see than ever before: As well as the 3 Disciplines of 3D Masters itself - Set Manoeuvres, Freestyle and Flight to Music, there will be the Night Competition, Synchro Competition, Evening Free Flying as well as Demonstration Flying from some of the World's Top Pilots. ElyQ have sponsored the Saturday Evening BBQ and of course there is the Raffle and the outrageous Victory Flights on Sunday, pioneered by 3D Masters and become World-famous for their inevitable conclusion.

Sunday 20 June 2010:
Just back from the UK 3D Cup at Weston Park. Great to meet up with all of you, and congratulations to Craig and his Team for putting on a superb event. It was a real mix of serious flying and serious FUN, with the Smith Brothers egging all the pilots on to great things.Judges Nigel Fraser Ker, Jon Fox and Kevin Targett did a magnificent job, the final results were:
1) Duncan Osbourn
2) Adam Turner
3) Stuart Smith
4) Stefan Simmons
5) Dave Fisher

James Moon took the 8k Cup, for contestants with a k factor of 8 or less.

Craig promises to run the contest again next year, so I for one am looking forward very much to being there. Well done to all concerned!

Tuesday 15June 2010:
